Have a Good Sleep

Me and sleep have this weird relationship. Some nights I can fall asleep fast and sleep for hours before mother nature calls. Then I get back into bed, my mind starts going, and I cannot sleep. This phenomenon usually happens around 3:00 a.m. Sometimes at 3:33 a.m., which makes it weirder. (I wrote a song titled 333.) I lay there thinking so much that my brain cannot relax and drift back asleep. And it’s so frustrating!

I tried melatonin tablets but had an unpleasant reaction with weird dreams and felt groggy the next day. I have taken Benadryl in the past to get me to sleep, and I’ve learned a connection between taking Benadryll for sleep and dementia. Here’s an article about it from Harvard Health. I don’t want to take anything that might bring on dementia. I have trouble remembering things the way it is.

Then I found Hyland’s Calms Forte, a natural sleep aid with flowers and plants.  That helped, but it seemed like it took a long time to work and didn’t keep me sleeping throughout the night, and I was always afraid to take another one mid-sleep because I thought it would make me tired when I got up.

The answer came from YouTuber Brittany Vasseur,  who mentioned Dr. Teal’s Sleep Spray. I didn’t care for the ingredients in the spray but saw I thought that might work since I can control how much I put on my skin. It’s wonderful. It smells very calming with lavender (which I love) and chamomile scents. Breathing it in is relaxing, and the melatonin in it takes a bit but gets me to sleep. And I don’t have any weird dreams or feel groggy in the morning. It keeps me asleep for four to six hours ( depending on how much water I drink.) I highly recommend it.

The other thing I’ve learned about sleep is that having different bedtimes (like I do) messes with your sleep cycle. I would love to go to sleep at the same time every night. I think that would help my sleep issues. I know I have no problem sleeping when I go away, and it may be because I go to bed at the same time each night because I can.  Technically, I could do that at home too, but boy, boy, can I find things to do that keep me up late! Don’t get me started with watching YouTube videos in bed. It’s like I’m an information junky. I can’t get enough!

However, putting on Dr. Teal’s Body Lotion Sleep Lotion has been such a help to get me to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. I am not getting any commission from any of these things I recommend. I’m just sharing what has worked for me, and I know I will help someone else.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you get a good sleep!
