Choosing a Word for 2025

Last December I did a post about choosing a word for the year. I included a list of words to choose from that resonated with you. My word for 2024 is “manifest.”

For 2025, I’ve chosen the word “execute.”

EXECUTE

verb

To carry out or put into effect (a plan, order, or course of action).

The word “execute ” came to me today. I didn’t even consider its highly negative other meaning, but now that I’m typing this, I’m thinking of that other meaning. Dang! Nope, I’m sticking to the word and will only focus on the definition above because that’s what I need to do.

Choosing a word for the year is like your North Star. My last blog post was about how to find your North Star. You can find it here.

Our yearly word is like the headlights on our journey using our North Star as a GPS. Once we know where we want to go, we need to follow that path. Just as headlights on a vehicle help to see while driving in the dark, our yearly word will illuminate our goals and desires and keep us on course.

I had my word of the year visible on my desk for months, but then I pared down the visual clutter and stuck it in my planner. I didn’t see it every day, and I swear it felt like I got off course for a while this year. I was not manifesting as I had hoped I would when I chose the word in December 2023. At that time, I believed choosing the word “manifest” would help me manifest all my goals into reality.  However, it did work for a few goals I had been working toward, but I didn’t quite get to where I had wanted to be.

So, then, it just goes to show that not seeing the yearly word daily can have an impact on whether or not we achieve what our word meant to us at the beginning of the year.

We choose a word for a reason.

This coming year, I hope we choose a word that means something special to us and look at it daily, all year. I’m curious for myself if I do that, and see how my life will change for the better.

Let’s make a pack. We’re going to choose a word for 2025 and put it somewhere visible to see every day. I’m in!

In 2025, I’m going to execute my plans! It’s scary to step outside of our comfort zones but we have to in order to make changes. Nothing changes when we’re stuck. We’ve got to move!

I did some things in 2024 where I took a leap of faith and moved toward my dream life. It was scary as hell, but it was a good thing. It meant I had faith that everything would work out well despite pain or feeling uncomfortable. That only lasts for a while until the wound heals. And just like a cut on our skin, our emotional wounds heal, too, and all that’s left is a scar that doesn’t hurt anymore.

Take some time to figure out your word, something that will change your life for the better.

Then, once you’ve got it, do something special with it like I did last year (photo above). I used scrapbook paper, but you can use any paper, magazine clippings, or whatever to make it look important. That’s key. It has to stand out; otherwise, we won’t see it. If it looks pretty, we’ll want to look at it, right?

I’d love to know which word you choose for 2025. I hope you got something of value from this that makes your life better. That’s why I write them. Oh, and because it helps me too. I’m learning as I go! That’s life.

To our word for 2025,

Francesca
