Believe It or Not
There are plenty of children’s stories about believing in the unseen. I saw a cute movie about children who befriend fairies by a creek, but the adults couldn’t see them. They said adults lose the ability to see them.
Why do we lose our sense of wonder and belief in the unseen and unknown?
Believe it or not, we have never lost that. It’s still inside us, just buried beneath layers of life that made us believe fairytales are for children. It’s funny that adults wrote children’s fairytales and stories, but children respond to them because the authors (creators) never stopped believing too.
Believe it or not, I’ve never stopped believing in my dreams.
Honestly, it’s been a work in progress to keep having faith in myself because I have put so much weight on why my family has never acknowledged that I write or ever ask if I was writing or singing. Those words were not uttered in our conversations. It was like the character in Harry Potter, Voldemort, where they couldn’t say his name and called him “He who should not be mentioned.” That was me. They couldn’t or wouldn’t mention anything about who I am and what I really do.
I dealt with the lack of respect for years and felt flawed for being me. I blamed myself for not being more transparent about what I was doing with my time, but the few times I did share my goals, it was either met with silence or snickering.
Believe it or not, I don’t harbor ill feelings toward anyone. I had to make a choice, and I chose to believe in myself regardless of my past. I needed the wounds to heal so I could live better.
As my guy said, “Time heals all wounds, and wounds won’t heal if you continuously reinjure them.”
Thank you for reading this. Always believe that as adults, we can choose to live happy and satisfied lives. And please, let’s respect each other’s dreams and desires and be cheerleaders for one another. Believe in the unseen when someone shares their vision, even if it sounds ridiculous. Life will keep us down if we let it. We have choices, and although some may be tough and cause pain, believe it or not, once a wound heals, it’s stronger.
To a life of always believing in ourselves,
Francesca
