Push a Little

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to cope. I want to thrive and slide into Heaven when I’m 104 (God willing) after I gave it all away – love, talent, genius, everything. I want to experience more life and good times. I don’t want to write that I don’t do enough of that because of money because I could have fun in a cardboard box. I would need some crayons. And it has to be the 64-pack of Crayola ones.

I’m sure you’ve had the thoughts that flash by you, nudging you that something is off. Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t chase it down with substitutions? Nope, we need to figure out what we want and make a plan. Push a little harder to get yourself over the bumps and gullies. When we push a little harder, we tell the universe (God) – Hey, I’m ready.
You know the saying, a body in motion stays in motion? It’s true. If you sit around waiting for Ed McMahon to ring your doorbell or keep buying lottery tickets for a way out, pause, give yourself the gift of attention, and figure out what you want.

Once we know what we want, we can do stuff to get there!

Any action is better than no action. Just a tiny step like not having that second cigarette after breakfast if you want to quit smoking. Keep doing that, and you’ve changed your habit just a bit in the right direction. And the more you praise yourself for keeping that up, the more you want to move that way. Once you’ve changed that habit, take another tiny step and remove one from another time of day you usually have it. It’s no big deal. Just taking one cigarette away, that’s all. No need to panic!

I used to smoke, so I know how that addiction can mess with your mind. But I began taking a tiny step, pushed a little (by visualizing and thinking that I was a non-smoker – always think in the positive, present tense), and before I knew it, I quit. I didn’t need the smoking cession products out there either. I just stopped and moved on. I pushed a little and got to where I wanted to be, taking tiny steps.

Push a little when you don’t feel like exercising. Think of this, do you want to pay now or pay later? Our bodies need to move. My parents are 89 and 88, and they never stop moving! My mother could be complaining about the pain in her knees one second, then ask her if she wants to go to Gabe’s (her favorite store), and she’s halfway out the door. Seriously, miracles happen to her body when she hears the word “shopping.” Did she push a little, or did the dopamine release override her aches and pains? I think both.

Push a little when you’re too afraid to ask someone out or ask for a raise at work. Get the negativity out of your head and think and see a yes response. If you still get a no, it wasn’t meant to be. You brush off the upset and push yourself a little to move on.

Push a little when you feel sorry for yourself. Do some sort of action that takes you in the direction of getting to your peace, no matter what that means to you.

Hey, time is fleeting. Do yourself a favor and push a little toward the happy life you deserve. Make a tiny move. Everyday.

Thank you for reading this.

Here’s to a good old-fashioned light kick in the butt, so you push a little,

Francesca

P.S. By the way, when you have someone else to help you push a little, it makes it so much easier.
